The marina of the port of Figueira da Foz has been called, since January 27th, Marina Engenheiro António Duarte Silva, former Minister of Sea and former Mayor of Figueira da Foz.
António Duarte Silva was born in Figueira da Foz on May 5th 1941 and died on April 1st 2011. Among other positions, he was Minister of Agriculture and Sea between 1994 and 1995, chaired the Municipal Assembly of Figueira da Foz between 1998 and 2001 and was Mayor of Figueira da Foz between 2002 and 2009.
It was while Minister of Agriculture and Sea that António Duarte Silva inaugurated the current marina.
This change was the result of an initiative of the City Council, which from the first moment had the agreement of the Figueira da Foz Port Authority.
