The Port of Figueira da Foz handled 1,061,930 tonnes in the first half of the year, a decrease of 2.6% compared to the same period last year.
Breakbulk cargo, driven by forest products, was the best performing type of cargo, with an increase of 9.2%. At the opposite end of the spectrum, chemical pulp and non-metallic minerals fell by 14.7% and 42.9% respectively.
Containerized cargo decreased by 0.7%, with 10,450 TEU handled during the period under review.
In the dry bulk sector, non-metallic minerals and wood by-products fell by 12.9%, 16.5% and 58.6% respectively. Glass products increased by 11.1%.
It should also be noted that the volume of exports fell by 16.3% compared with the same period last year.
In the first half of the year, 230 vessels called at the Port of Figueira da Foz, 4 less than in the same period last year.
