The Port of Figueira da Foz has just joined Cruise Europe, the European Association of Atlantic Axis Ports, which promotes cruise destinations from the Baltic, Norway and the Faroe Islands to Southern Europe.
With this membership, new steps are being taken to strengthen the promotion of Figueira da Foz and the entire tourism offer of the Centre Region as a unique and differentiated destination to cruise operators and other stakeholders in the sector.
Joining this association is strategic for the promotion of cruise activities in the Port of Figueira da Foz, in order to strengthen its position in the context of European cruise tourism, at a time when, it should be remembered, the works to improve maritime accessibility are in the process of being awarded, the "Study for the Development and Valorisation of the Atlantic Marina of Figueira da Foz" is underway, which will allow the Board of Directors to make decisions on, among other things, the construction of an infrastructure dedicated to the reception of cruise ships.
In 2023, the Port of Figueira da Foz received three ships, one more than in 2022, carrying a total of 285 passengers.
