Awarded to Mota-Engil, the work represents a strategic investment of €21.9 million, aimed at modernising port infrastructure and increasing the port's capacity to receive larger ships. It is essential for keeping up with the growing size of ships operating on the international market and for consolidating the Port of Figueira da Foz's position as a strategic hub for maritime trade.

A structural and sustainable investment

Funding for the project is divided between various sources:
- €9.1 million from the 'Sustainability 2030' programme;
- €4.4 million from private organisations (Celbi, Navigator, Operfoz and Yilport);
- €8.4 million financed from the Port of Figueira da Foz Administration's (APFF) own funds.

Benefits and prospects:

The project includes deepening the navigation channel and widening the berth, enabling:
- the reception of larger tonnage ships;
- increasing the port's operational capacity;
- Attracting new investment and business opportunities.

This work will be carried out in phases and is scheduled for completion in 2026. It will make a significant contribution to the internationalisation and competitiveness of the Port of Figueira da Foz.

Through this project, the Port of Figueira da Foz is reaffirming its role as a driver of economic growth and a key hub for national and international maritime transport. It is a fundamental milestone in ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the port.
