On August 4, maintenance works on the railway branch of the Port of Figueira da Foz commenced. This intervention, with an expected duration of 90 days and a total investment of €90,268.85, aims to repair and improve the railway tracks and the track switching equipment (AMVs).
The project, covering a stretch of 7.1 kilometres of railway, will be carried out in a single phase and mainly involves work on the AMVs, track cleaning and vegetation removal, signaling accessories, and the correction of track misalignment in the existing railway infrastructure. The works are being carried out by Socicarril – Sociedade de Construções Ferroviárias, Lda., a company specialized in railway construction, maintenance, and renovation.
The intervention is financed by the Administration of the Port of Figueira da Foz, with the aim of preserving the operational and safety conditions of this infrastructure and reinforcing the port’s role as an important intermodal platform in the Central Region, in line with the Port Strategy 5+.
