The four vessels that had been berthed at the Porto da Figueira da Foz for several weeks have recently departed for their destinations, in an operation adjusted to the maritime conditions observed at the time.
Between Monday and Tuesday, two small vessels with low draft entered the port, taking advantage of a favourable weather and sea window.
The resumption of dredging works in the navigation channel is expected shortly, possibly as early as next week. However, these operations may be carried out intermittently, as they remain dependent on the prevailing sea conditions.
It is expected that, following the necessary dredging works, the port may return to full operational capacity during the month of March.
It should be recalled that, since December, an exceptional and unexpected silting has occurred at the port entrance, a situation aggravated by successive recent maritime storms, with strong agitation and swell, which, for safety reasons, prevented vessel movements.
