The Port of Figueira da Foz was present last Tuesday at the anniversary ceremony of the Associação Desportiva Naval Remo, a moment marked by an important step for the sport: the official recognition of the Nautical Station as a National Training Centre for the National Coastal Rowing Team.
The ceremony was attended by several institutional and sports representatives, including Fernando Gomes, President of the Portuguese Olympic Committee, Luís Faria, President of the Portuguese Rowing Federation, and Rogério Carlos, member of the Board of Directors of the Port of Figueira da Foz.
During the session, the new training equipment of the Portuguese Rowing Federation was also inaugurated. This equipment was acquired under support programmes from the Portuguese Olympic Committee and the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth, strengthening the preparation conditions of the national coastal rowing team—a discipline that will make its debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Another highlight was the confirmation that the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Coastal Rowing will take place in Figueira da Foz, scheduled for October this year, further consolidating the region’s position as an international reference in the sport.
The Port of Figueira da Foz joins this moment of celebration, congratulating Associação Desportiva Naval Remo on its journey and contribution to the development of rowing in Portugal, as well as for its active role in promoting sport and enhancing the value of the region.
