Favourable Environmental Impact Statement for "project of strategic importance".

At the end of 2020 the Portuguese Environment Agency issued the Single Environmental Permit for the Project to Improve Maritime Accessibility at the Port of Figueira da Foz.

The permit was issued after a hearing period for interested parties and additional procedures, a process that was completed in the last months of last year, followed by the preparation of the project review, which will include the impact minimisation measures and the monitoring programmes indicated by the Evaluation Committee.

The Figueira da Foz Port Authority reaffirms the strategic importance of this project for the growth and future development of the Port of Figueira da Foz, the same for its Port Community and the entire industrial sector of the Centre Region. 

This project is absolutely essential for the qualitative boost to the Port of Figueira da Foz, enabling it to handle ships up to 140m long and with a draught of 8 metres.
