The Figueira da Foz Port Authority and BioAdvance - The Next Generation, Lda. have signed a concession contract for a 10,000m2 land plot, for the construction of a production and storage unit for advanced fuels, in the port expansion area of the liquid bulk terminal.

The BioAdvance company, which already uses the Port of Figueira da Foz for its commercial activity, foresees maritime traffic of 40,000 tons already in 2024, which will be handled from Asfalcentro's current jetty.

With an investment of over 12 million euros and the creation of highly qualified jobs, the new advanced fuels industrial unit will use technology developed by the company and will have a capacity of 20,000 tonnes with the possibility of expansion up to 60,000ton/year, allowing compliance with the RED II Directive as regards advanced fuels. 

To make the maritime access to the jetty operational, dredging of the channel and manoeuvring basin is planned, which will provide the expansion area with more favourable conditions for future investment projects.

The Figueira da Foz Port Authority is thus achieving another strategic goal to increase and diversify the amount of cargo handled, increasingly asserting itself as a competitive logistics solution for the Centre Region and for the country.
